# BarnLabs > BarnLabs builds careful tools for research, learning, and exploration. Product claims below distinguish shipped software from developer previews. ## Products ### Inquiry Developer-preview, local-first research engine written in Rust. Inquiry gathers public-source evidence while preserving source records, retrieval details, claim references, confidence notes, and connector errors. Current interfaces are a Rust command-line tool, an MCP server for compatible agents, and a native macOS client built from source. Current developer-preview capabilities include calculations, explicit unit conversions, descriptive statistics, numerical differentiation and integration, responsive graphs, self-contained HTML research reports, exact-place resolution with OpenStreetMap data, country metrics from the World Bank, exact current and numbered officeholder resolution with U.S. and UK official corroboration where accepted, MedlinePlus health-topic discovery, licensed Wikimedia Commons image discovery, OpenAlex scholarly metadata, Anki/Quizlet study exports, timestamped FAA airport events, official airline/package handoffs that return no live state, and a minimized local single-aircraft registry lookup. The machine-readable coverage matrix does not claim universal support, and ambiguous current-office or scoped tracking queries can abstain before networking. Medical discovery is informational and does not diagnose, prescribe, or choose patient-specific doses. - Product page: [Inquiry](https://barnlabs.net/inquiry) - Public source: [github.com/barnlabs/inquiry](https://github.com/barnlabs/inquiry) - Status: public developer preview; source builds are available, but no signed or notarized macOS binary is published ## Company - Founded by Donovan Baney and Thatcher Baney - Website: [barnlabs.net](https://barnlabs.net) - Product platforms: Rust CLI, MCP, and macOS source build for Inquiry - Philosophy: Careful design.
